The bad thing about bipolar medication is that most of them have side effects that can be very severe for some people. You will most likely go through several different types of medications before you find one that will suit your needs.
You will observe some drastic changes in the habits of the sufferer. His energy levels will fall down and laziness will gather all over him/her. The low energy levels will make him/her annoying. The weakness will become a cause of many other ailments. The person will be unable to sleep well. The loss of sleep will also be responsible in the worsening of mood. This waiting time is the time you can use to improve yourself. I’m sure you have something you always wanted to do. Find something that you have long dreamed about doing and throw your life into it. Now is the time to pursue all the non-romantic things you have always longed to achieve. This is “me” time for you now. Use it! Do you want to make yourself better in any way, now is the time to do it. Find a way to use all this negative energy and turn it into something positive. This will make you feel good about yourself again.
Is your helping encouraging? All of your “helping” should encourage your adult child to do better and become more independent. It shouldn’t be so controlling that it takes away the incentive for your adult child to try or that it sends the message that he/she is incapable of handling his/her own life. Helping someone to help themselves is the goal. All of us learn best when we are in control of our choices and directly experience the consequences of them.
I would suggest that if you are feeling like sleeping all day that you should go out and volunteer or even better find a job. Try and integrate back into society and face your fears. Try to get through that last anxiety attack faster than the last time you had one. Try to face a crowd and not get nervous.
